Long
live the JTA - President, Caribbean Union of Teachers,
Byron Farquharson
IT
IS with much pleasure and a special sense of pride that
I wish to offer congratulations to the Jamaica Teachers`
Association on reaching this very significant milestone
of forty years. The Jamaica Teachers` Association (J.T.A.)
stands as a monumental organisation in advancing the
cause of education in Jamaica and the region. Indeed
the progress made in building a quality education system
in Jamaica owes much of its success to the Jamaica Teachers`
Association.
As
the largest member union of the Caribbean Union of Teachers,
you have always provided sound leadership and support
for other unions. In fact, you have served and continue
to serve as a model for our members. We are even more
grateful for the very effective way you have hosted
the Secretariat over the past five years.
It
is our wish that as you reflect on your stewardship
over these forty years that you will find much to celebrate
and be happy for. It will also provide you with the
opportunity to chart out your future course which we
hope will lead to greater service to not only your members
but the nation.
On
behalf of the Caribbean Union of Teachers, I salute
you and wish for you many more years of quality service.
Long
live the J.T.A.
