Much
to be proud of - Minister of Labour and Social Security,
Horace W. Dalley
I
WOULD like to join in congratulating the Jamaica Teachers`
Association on the occasion of their fortieth anniversary
celebrations, and to pay tribute to the hundreds
of teachers and administrators in our educational system,
whose dedication and commitment have been of great value
to our country.
The
JTA has much to be proud of in its forty years of existence.
As the trade union representative on behalf of teachers,
they have been good advocates in protecting the interests
of their members, and have played a pioneering role
in securing housing assistance, establishing savings
schemes and providing other welfare benefits to advance
the well-being of our teachers.
It
is on this enviable record that the JTA must continue
to build, and to strive for even greater achievements
in the next forty years. It is through institutional
building and a commitment to promoting social dialogue
that we best hope to achieve a common vision which will
advance our educational system for the benefit of all.
Hon.
Horace W. Dalley,
Minister of Labour & Social Security
