JTA's 40th Anniversary

Congratulatory messages, Achievements, Staff profiles and more!

Message - Vice President, National Workers' Union, Danny Roberts

I would like to extend heartiest congratulations to the Jamaica teachers’ Association on celebrating forty years of service to the education sector, and to recognize their inestimable contribution to the development of the nation state, as well as their role in defining the essential values and attitudes for the shaping of our society.

The JTA remains a pillar of our educational system, and in its forty years have been part of the process of de-anglicizing the system of education and providing some measure of integration which brings education within the reach of the mass of the population.

As we face new daunting challenges in education, institutions like the JTA have a pivotal role to play in partnering with the State and other stakeholders to ensure that, above all, we maintain a fully integrated education system, geared towards the ultimate achievement of intellectual independence.

On behalf of the National Workers Union I once again congratulate the JTA and am confident that their work will remain a beacon of light for the future.

Danny Roberts
Vice President
