Message - President & CEO, Blue Cross of Jamaica, Richard K. Powell

The Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) must be commended on the celebration of its 40th anniversary as one of the outstanding representative institutions in Jamaica. Over the past four decades, the JTA has demonstrated a high level of commitment to the development of the teaching profession and the education sector in general. Moreover, the Association has been exemplary in the professional manner in which it has pursued its objectives, including improvements in the welfare of its members.

For almost three decades, Blue Cross of Jamaica has worked closely with the JTA,
Providing health coverage for its membership and partnering on a number on a number of initiatives. We are particularly proud of our sponsorship, since 1988, of the Association’s Annual Primary, All-Age and Junior High Schools’ Athletics Championships. This event has been instrumental in unearthing and nurturing many of your programmes gas afforded us the opportunity to meet and work with a succession of outstanding executives of the JTA, whose example of commitment, professionalism and generosity of sprit is inspiring.

There is no doubt that the JTA has made an indelible mark, not just in the shaping of the teaching profession, but also in the development of the entire society. Your record of achievement over these forty years is impressive. As a society, we remain dependent on you, with your vast experience, knowledge and expertise, to continue to prepare the way for the future generations, as you guide our teachers and set new standards of excellence.

On behalf of the Board of Trustee, management and Staff of Blue Cross of Jamaica Limited, I heartily congratulate the Association on its attainment of this significant milestone and, I wish you continued success in all your endeavours.

Richard K. Powell
