An
outstanding record of service - President, Retired Teachers'
Association, Leo E. Williams
THE
JAMAICA Teachers` Association in this year, forty years
old and is the outcome of the union of five teaching
groups of which the Jamaica Union of Teachers was the
most dominant. The JTA has over the years blazed an
outstanding record of service to its members, not only
in negotiating better salaries and conditions of service,
but also providing opportunities for professional advancement
and personal development. It also seeks to recognise
and commend outstanding members of the teaching fraternity
and accommodates and promotes divergent interest groups.
The
Retired Teachers` Association which is also an interest
group of the JTA, is 50 years old this year and wishes
to place on record our sincere congratulations to the
JTA on achieving this milestone. We wish the Association
continued growth and efficiency in meeting the needs
of its membership. There are serious challenges ahead
which will need determination, discipline and creativity
to overcome. So we wish the leadership present and future,
strength and wisdom, humility and sincerity as we continue
to `unite and serve`.
Long
live the Jamaica Teachers` Association.
Leo E. Williams

Retired Teachers` Associationiation
